Kelsey Scott, MS, LAC Licensed Associate Counselor

My job is to not heal you, it is to help you heal yourself. My belief is that you already have all the answers, wisdom, and capacity within yourself. My sole job is to help you access these parts of you. I will always remind you that only you know what is best for you. I can’t promise to make the hard stuff go away, but I can show you how to make the hard stuff easier to sit with and that you don’t have to sit in this alone. I believe we as therapists are so privileged and honored to be in the space to witness the pain, grief, sadness, joy, and healing that occurs when you allow us into your internal world. It’s truly a gift.

My Education

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Communication with an Emphasis in Leadership and Organizational Communication at Northern Arizona University. I earned my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an Emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy at Grand Canyon University. I completed my practicum and internship with Soul Surgery, which is a substance abuse and detox facility located in North Scottsdale.

My Professional Journey

I recognized early on that my life’s purpose was to make a positive impact on others, no matter how small or significant. While spending years studying the relevancy of relationships and their effects, this prompted me to accept the position of an ongoing case manager with the Department of Child Safety. Shortly after, I realized the intimate work I was craving required more one on one interactions and the dire need for healing to occur within the family system as a whole. I began my therapy work primarily facilitating group therapy sessions for clients struggling with substance abuse related issues. Once I started individual therapy work, I noticed the familial and/or spousal support was missing from this approach. Since then, I have found that working with couples, families, and individuals is what brings me the most joy. I have completed Level 1 and Level 2 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy as well as Level 3 Practicum Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy. My specialties include, but are not limited to:

  • Couples

  • Families

  • Adult Individuals

  • Inner child work

  • Attachment work

  • Navigating complex or fractured relationships with parents, in-laws, siblings, etc.

  • Boundaries

In Addition to Therapy

I am native to Arizona, but still despise the summers here. I lived in Sweden for five months in 2016 and have enjoyed traveling around the world for the past eight years. I enjoy listening to country music, baking, painting, outdoor water sports, taking care of my two dogs and one cat as well as spending intentional quality time with my lovely husband.
