I am considering individual counseling, but I still have some concerns…

I am afraid that I will have to take medication.

A majority of our clients have no need for medication whatsoever.  Although a combination of therapy and medication may do wonders in some cases, often, a slight shift in self-awareness, lifestyle changes or coping strategies is enough to ease suffering and change lives.

The important thing is to at least give therapy a try.  We can’t fix a problem unless we try and you might be surprised at the profound results that can follow small changes.

What if personal therapy makes things worse?

Healing is possible, no matter how hard it may be to believe right now.  The idea that we have to deny our pain or just manage it alone only perpetuates the cycle of suffering indefinitely.  And although the healing process initially may require confronting our pain, the enduring benefits of therapy are only limited by your commitment to change and what you can imagine for yourself.  With a trusted ally, you can take great strides toward a better life.

I am concerned about the financial cost.

Yes, therapy does require a financial investment; however, can you possibly think of a greater investment to make?  Private counseling not only addresses your immediate mental well-being, but it can benefit every other aspect of your life as well. Take, for instance, stress.  It’s now thought that stress is as harmful to your health as smoking cigarettes, but we still treat stress like it is something we just have to “get over or just live with it.”
