Kathleen Burk, MACMH, Clinical Intern

I believe the therapeutic relationship found in counseling can be healing for everyone. Experiences of struggle and change are universal, as is our need to feel supported, encouraged, accepted, and safe in self-expression. Counseling has been a gift on my own road to self-discovery, self-compassion, stronger relationships, and overall wellness, and I hope it will be for you as well! I look forward to walking through hard moments and phases of transition with you, as well as celebrating your individuality, aspirations, and strengths.

My Education

I am grateful to be a part of the AZ Pinnacle Counseling team! I am a Master's student at Adams State University, pursuing licensure by completing my practicum at AZ Pinnacle Counseling. I earned my bachelor’s degree in 2012, in Film and Television Producing and Pre-Law from the University of Arizona. In 2021 I became certified as a Yoga Instructor.

My Professional Journey

I currently work in the real estate industry and have helped agents and brokerages grow their businesses since 2015. Before that, I worked in department store management, resort hospitality management, freelance media producing, and even as a tour guide! In every role I’ve held, the key to my own fulfillment has been making space for people around me to share their stories safely and to feel understood.

While working one-on-one with realtors, clients, and colleagues to help them overcome hurdles beyond business needs, I realized my passion was leading toward counseling, rather than business development. I could not be happier to be on this journey into the mental health counseling profession, where I can focus on supporting others’ wellness and healing.

I am passionate to work with individuals seeking support with:

  • Personal growth, identity development, and healing from anxiety, depression, and trauma.

  • Later-life transitions such as retirement, grief, and relocation.

  • LGBTQAI2S+ concerns, affirmation, and advocacy.

  • Professional development and career counseling: I believe work life is vital to wellness, confidence, and healthy relationships.

In Addition to Therapy

As a Midwesterner, I adore the sunshine and warm weather here in Arizona, where I have lived since 2008. I enjoy yoga, travel, time with nieces and nephews (AKA “niblings”), dance classes, and YouTube videos about decluttering. My partner and I live in McCormick Ranch and share two rescue pets, our dog Xena and our cat Pywacket.
