Helping people navigate their thoughts and feelings is a passion of mine, and I believe that our past experiences, rather than defining us, offer valuable lessons for growth. My own journey to becoming a clinical mental health counseling intern has been shaped by this belief.
I am currently completing my master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Southern New Hampshire University, where I am also undergoing training in Emotionally Focused Therapy.I earned my bachelor's degree in Marriage and Family Counseling with a minor in Child Advocacy from Brigham Young University-Idaho. I also hold a Marriage, Family, and Human Relations certificate and an Advanced Marriage and Family Function certificate from BYU-I.
My Professional Journey
My professional background began in the school system, where I worked with students from kindergarten through 12th grade. My most rewarding role was as a behavioral support specialist, where I helped parents, teachers, and children understand and navigate their emotions. I witnessed firsthand how gaining a deeper understanding of the "why" behind our reactions can lead to powerful transformations.
These experiences solidified my passion for counseling. I am dedicated to using the skills I've developed to help others on their own path toward becoming their best selves.
When I am not in therapy you will mostly likely see me hiking with my family, swimming, or doing a house project. I enjoy making things that beautify my home. You may also see my family and I on vacation. We love doing well thought out vacations to other states and last minute trips to local treasures. One of my favorite self-care activities is watching a good crime show and eating a bowl of ice cream when my kids are sleeping.
